The arrow room, or "quick-start room" is a room where players can enter to get put into the lowest common wave of the people in the room. When you go to enter the room, you will be asked to choose a role, and you may choose "Ill be any role", to be assigned a random role. Once 5 players are in the room, the game will work out the lowest common wave amongst the team, and assign everyone their chosen role.
Arrow-room Run
Arrow-room runs are something we do as an alternative to funs when we want some variety in what role we play. In order to do these runs you must be able to do every role, and also be able to survive solo-attacking on high waves. To do an arrow room run, you should gear up as an attacker, and have nothing in your inventory, go to the room (In the southeast corner of the Barbarian Assault lobby), and pick "Ill be any role", once your team enters, you will all complete the wave, then go back to the arrow-room, and repeat. Here are some ways to optimize your run-times based on how roles are assigned;
Duo-Attacker:
Waves with two-attackers are standard, one attacker takes the fighters, one attacker takes the rangers. Both attacker should help with healer lures when possible.
Duo-Healer:
Waves1-4: Both healers should spam down healers ASAP.
Waves 5-10: Both healers should follow duo-heal numbers used in speedruns. Since the attacker is normally slower than 2 healers, its a reasonable strategy to have 1 healer killing the healers and the other vialing the attacker, although this usually only needs to be done towards the end of the 2nd call, both healers should at least focus on the healers until the 48-54s mark, then fill their vial and move west, if using this strategy.
Duo-Collector:
Waves 1-3: One collector should block runners and the other should pick up eggs west. To optimize points, once the last runner has been blocked, the collector blocking runners can collect east eggs.
Waves 4-10: One collector should collect west and the other should collect east/help with healer lures. If its wave 8/9 and the attacker is low def and/or hp, it may be advisable to go west and help tank for them.
Duo-Defender:
Waves1-3: The defender closest to the dispenser should defend whilst the other afk's. If the defender closest to the dispenser is feeling lazy and the other defender is feeling helpful, the one closest to the dispenser can lay down the food whilst the other grabs the logs.
Waves 4-10: The defender closest to the dispenser should defend, the other defender should help with healer lures.
Extra Info;
Spawns: Roles will be assigned randomly and assigned a spot on the team in the scroll orders; adch, the role duplicated will be scrolled directly below its corresponding role; aadch, addch, adcch and adchh. If a player/players choose their role manually, they will be given priority on scroll assignment, meaning they will be scroll instead of the attacker.
Extra Items: If you can consistanly heal with less food than normal, it may be advisable to take 1. A ranging potion incase you attack on high waves, 2. A mind shield for duping eggs, 3. An item you can force-end with, 4. A KO and/or multi-target weapon for more consistant attacking
Other Strategies: There are very specific events that occur with the random variants of roles and situations during waves (Duo-def, defender killing runners gets an early lure, might go to cannon so the other defender handling lures can finish off the runners, Duo-coll, One collector might convert after 1st call to get eggs for an early reserve whilst the other collects to convert right after 2nd call to get eggs for the remaining healers, etc.). to best handle these events its up to the team's communication to execute the best strategies, to do this, its best to voice-chat when playing.
Arrow-room runs are meant for fun, there’s nothing wrong in making a team (Arrow-room +, or AR+) and winging every wave and role setup, the strategies listed here are just some suggestions to add efficiency/convenience to the runs.
