Sunday Races are a weekly event that we hold every Sunday at 7:00pm GMT. We all gather in the hallway outside wave 1 and wait for the first race to start. Everyone is welcome to this event, but it is highly recommended that you are capable of performing at least 2 roles because you may not get the play any role you want. In races, we aim for the fastest times possible, so familiarize yourself a bit with some of our guides before attempting to join a race. The winning teams of each race are logged, and added to our monthly race logs where we compete for best race time of the month. The purpose of races is to have a fun and exciting event where we can get together and bond as a community. This guide will explain the basics for how these events work, and how you can participate in them. Enjoy!
Basic Steps To Racing:
Stand in the northwest corner of the hallway outside wave 1 to be counted in the race(Dd). If you are not racing, go east of the crate between wave 1 and wave 2. (The spectators area)
After the host counts the amount of people in the dd, the host will choose captains for the teams. The amount of captains should = the amount of teams, and the amount of teams should = the amount of competing.
The captains will form a line in wave 1 and begin picking players from the hallway. (Gym class style) The captains take turns choosing players in a "snake-order" fashion.
When you are picked by a captain, join their line of players behind them. Once the teams are full, the captain will tell your team to join a cc of his or her choice. Once you're all in the cc, you will collaborate with your team-mates to decide all of your roles.
After your team's roles have been decided, scroll up, and then head to the north-east corner of wave 1 once you are ready to begin.
~If you are the scroll: Scroll all of your team members, set your role, and then stand by the ladder when you and your team are ready to begin.
Once everyone is ready, the host will give a signal to begin the race.
Important things to note:
we will require new players to have Lvl 5 in a role they wish to play on a race team.
It is important not to afk during races, as its rude to make 30 people wait on you, of course, if you have to attend to something IRL, its perfectly understandable,
but its best to try to avoid it/put it off until a more convenient time, if you can. If you cannot put it off, make sure to step somewhere where it will be obvious to
the host that you are afk (In the northwest/southwest corner, away from the dd(s), and away from the scrollers, or simply step into the hallway)
If you're picked as a captain, your job is to pick a balanced team, highly skilled players generally get picked first, but you also need to make sure you pick people
that cover all roles needed, so use your familiarity of the community the best you can!
BE ON TIME! If the selecting process has already begun by the time you arrive, the host reserves the right to ask you to go east of crate. The only time the host will do this is if there was an even amount of players when the captains were first picked.(15,20,25,30...) The reason we do this is to make sure that all players that were there on time get to play. It would be unfair to them if someone came late and caused them to sit out. Sometimes we do have 2-3 left over players once all the teams are formed. Don't leave yet! We can usually get some spectators or people from the cc to come fill the extra team - and the host will do their best to make this happen.
Note: if you miss the first race, you can still join the other races that follow.
RQ’ing from a race mid-round will result in a 1-week race ban. During this ban you will not be allowed to attend races (You won’t be a choice for team captains.).
*In an effort to speed up races, we have implemented a new, simple AFK-Check system, that is as follows:
1. DD'ing in the corner implies that you are scrolled and ready. If you need to
AFK, simply step away from the corner.
2. It is now the scroller’s job to make sure his/her team is ready.
Only once the scroller has done this, should the scroller stand by the ladder to indicate the team is ready.
Altogether this means: if you are a team member DD’d in the corner, you are ready to race.
If you're a scroller at the ladder, you AND your team are ready to race.
Along with this new system, the host will also be helping people figure out their roles if
scrolling is taking too long (By going into the captain's cc and suggesting roles).
Thank you for your cooperation. See you Sunday!
