Hello everyone,
I learnt recently that a new rule of the clan is to accept people only if they have level 5 in all roles. I haven't seen any elaboration on the rule and I think this kind of rule should be detailed because it really impacts the social aspect of the clan. The rule is made to further fight torso hunters and sythers, which is understandable, but the side effect is pretty big, following the rule, you cannot invite new people that are not really into BA anymore, you cannot play with some very good players that don't have lvl 5 (there is some), you cannot invite your noob friend to help him learn faster with the clan, etc...
It is clear that when you reach level 5 in a role, you're not a beginner in BA, you are an advanced player, not a pro maybe, but still a very good player. I know time has changed from 2 years ago, there is way more people and stuff to deal with, but for me this clan is more than a clan where you play for fun, races, and events, it is also an awesome and welcoming community, where you can make your "first steps" into BA. By that I don't mean learning from A to Z with a team you slow down, but I mean learn little things that make you play efficiently for everyone to enjoy as much as possible.
This will maybe sound like a rant but I wish we could fight hunters in a less harsh way than what we do now, a way that impacts the clan so much. I'm pretty sure this rule won't change but I think it the requirement could be lowered to lvl 3, or even lvl 2, no torso hunter would spend points to get a level in a role.
Anyway, my sole request right now is that rule to be detailed and exceptions to be added so we can still invite and play with people that want to play BA for fun or even discover this community and this wonderful minigame more deeply.
This is Casual BA, this is meant for pros and noobs to play together and enjoy learning and teaching, to have fun while playing, please keep our awesome clan as it is.

You can find the full post of this new rule here: New Rule regarding Joining FunsIn it, Zarpedon suggested that 1) If a team agrees to take on someone(s) who doesn't meet the Level 5 requirement, they're free to do so. 2) If anyone wanted to offer feedback to this rule change, they could do so in that post. Seeing that your post can be considered a suggestion, though, I don't really mind whether this post is as a new thread, or as a reply in the linked thread. One suggestion I may offer: A player wanting to join a team can make note of their level, if they + in. (e.g. if there's an F+2, and someone who's a level 3 Defender wants to join the team as a Defender, then they would say "F+1 if I can lv3 def" (or something to that effect). Then the rest of the team can choose whether or not to have that player on their team, with that role.)The idea of limiting players who join funs to those who have their role as a Level 5 is understandable. It seems the majority of players prefer to be teamed with those who can perform their roles most efficiently (i.e. Level 5 in a designated role), because Casual BA serves as a compromise between playing with randoms, and speeding. This is what makes teaming with CBA'ers fun for those in it; everyone knows what they're doing (i.e. avoids the "risk" of longer games that would otherwise be played with randoms), as well as not take things too seriously. You could view these two ends (playing with randoms who may not know what to do, and play seriously) as opposite ends of a spectrum, in which anyone in CBA will lie in between. Some may lean towards one side or the other, but most share a balance in which casual games are both "efficient" and "fun". Another benefit to having this rule, is that people who seek short-term goals (torso/items and/or diaries) should be demotivated from playing with CBA members, who want to play both efficiently and for fun. We've run into numerous cases where someone who joins / has joined CBA has exploited its services for their short-term personal gain, (possibly) left the clan, and advertise it on social media as a means to these "attractive" ends (imagine a post being "oh yeah. I heard the cc 'Casual BA' will help you get your torso or diary pretty fast!"). We want to mitigate this misrepresentation of the clan, by offering modifications to the current system that we feel helps make aware of what we're about (having fun, playing for long-term goals). Going back to your concern for the new rule change, I definitely agree that there could be a better way to welcome new players who can show potential for long-term interest in BA. It's just hard to discover these people, unless you play with them yourself and see what they're about. (At least, with me, I play almost all my games with randoms to see who I can invite, based on their interests or goals)
tl;dr The above is just my personal opinion of your concern, and everyone is entitled to their thoughts and expressing them, so long as it helps the clan grow. If you're unsatisfied with my view, or want additional input, feel free to comment on the aforementioned (linked) post, or PM some of the other stars in-game to see what they'll say!

Let's just clarify that the rule was to have level 5 in the role in which you are playing (and also the other part oblivia mentioned about the team allowing players without level 5 if they agree). It does not require level 5 in every role.
My view: If you are a player seeking the pet or like to play barbarian assault on a regular basis for fun, then playing a couple of hours (usually ~4 rounds, 1-3 hours depending on teams) to reach level 5 in a role doesn't seem like that much of an issue. It is also a good opportunity for newer players to practice the techniques displayed in our guides section. I would also say that someone who has played 4 rounds of a role is not even at the intermediate level. They may not even be considered novice depending on if they even practiced anything during those 4 rounds. One hour of barbarian assault for a clan specifically for BA and only BA does not seem too strict, in my opinion. There are many amazing people in this clan with knowledge of this minigame that many experienced players can't even understand on any level. There are people in this clan with over 3k gambles who have dedicated thousands of hours to research and strategizing how to make the game more efficient and easier for the members of this clan. I do not see any problem with requiring a tiny fraction of that amount of time before permitting players the privilege of playing with and learning from other members in this clan.

You guys both have valid points (and thanks for the link oblivia, I will make sure to make a suggestion in there soon), but that's the whole idea of restricting gradually the access to the clan I'm inconfortable with, I have the feeling every now and then we take (or at least are willing to take) mesures that make the clan less and less noob friendly, not that this is a bad thing of course, but I feel like this is making the members of the clan more elitist in their vision of the minigame. I may be wrong, that's just how I feel about this new rule. And by experience I can tell that this is by far the most frustrating thing in BA, trying your best and listening as hard as you can and having people flaming you for not being as good as they want you to be (@oblivia: this is one of the reason I play BA with a lot of randoms as well).
About your point of view RSvelo, I think some of the people that reach level 5 in a role can still be novice, but I stay persuaded that most of them, by the time they reach level 5, have at least tried to learn about the deeper aspects of the role they play and are then, not that much novices anymore. Otherwise I totally agree with your point of view.
Anyway, thanks for your replies, I appreciate that you guys take the time to discuss about this subject.
